I’ve just deleted several of my social accounts; flickr, Linkedin, tumblr, Snapchat, etc. Why waste time and “mindshare” on things that I rarely use (if ever) and don’t need? Why put energy into things that offer me no benefit; just because other people are using them? I’m cleaning house. There are so many things vying for my attention but enough is enough.
Minimalism in Creating Art, Photography
I’m approaching life and the work I do with photography in much the same way. Better photography through minimalism is not only possible, I believe, but practical and definitely something to explore. Less gear, time and expense might mean less options, less choices, but I believe that limits and constraints can be the catalysts to more creativity.
This isn’t to say I’m selling off all my gear. I’m just not keen on taking any more than is necessary to any given shoot. I want to use as little as possible to make the best pictures possible. Simplicity and less clutter leads to more focus on the things that matter.
