Other Lighting Setups

We’ve discussed the traditional application of one-, two-, and three-light setups for portraiture.  But as a portrait artist, you should experiment with lighting placement and different effects as often as possible.  There are a variety of popular lighting techniques that you can put to use when the circumstances call for them.  In this lesson, I’ll give you a quick overview of a few of my favorites.  These include:

• Double rim/kicker
• Double sidelights
• Clamshell lighting
• White background techniques

These are by no means the only techniques you should try.  But to cover these and others in greater detail would require a separate course!  Start with some of these, then check out some of my tutorials on YouTube or here on this site.
