We tend to block off many of our senses when we’re staring at a screen. Nature time can literally bring us to our senses. — Richard Louv
I have to admit, I’m not much of a nature guy. I like the city. But every so often I like to go to the park and photograph things that catch my eye. Central Park is perfect for me, because it gives me the opportunity to walk a few blocks, dive in, and get back out quickly.
When I photograph nature, I’m not thinking in terms of storyline or metaphor; it’s just shape and form and how those things resonate with me. Side benefit: I’ve noticed that photographing nature is kind of like meditation for me, which is something I need in my life. It’s amazing how everything else seems to slip away. All that’s left is a sort of effortless focus.
