It’s been 8 or 9 years since I last worked on my personal project called, X-Reel. It was based on this alternate universe where photographic and cinemagraphic processes took off on a different branch of development. At the same time, cheesy exploitation films never went away (think: Russ Meyer meets Grindhouse’s Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez). I used to make video tape sleeves for my make-believe movies.
Looking over my work, even on Instagram, it’s easy to see that this aesthetic appears throughout. But one important thing here: the women, villain or heroine, always come out on top.
