One-Light Portraits

Modifiers

This session demonstrates how different light modifiers affect your portrait. Starting with bare flash, we see the harsh shadows and abrupt transitions typical of unmodified light. Adding a shoot-through umbrella softens the light by enlarging the source and introducing fill from ambient bounce, reducing contrast. Finally, a softbox offers even more control, with a flatter, more directional light spread and internal diffusion for a softer, more polished look.
